Thyme Saver Meals is a local meal delivery service offering a weekly menu of ready to heat meal kits with all the pre prepped components to put together wholesome meals in a few minutes. We are a small close-knit team that cares a lot about our clients and giving local people really good food to enjoy at home. 

The Role…

This will be an important role in our small company as the leader of the kitchen and the one responsible for planning, organizing, and creating our delicious meals and maintaining a great work environment.  You will be working alongside our prep staff and enthusiastic female CEO who is creating the menus and keeping the business running and growing. This role will be taking on the main preparation for the products in the commercial kitchen and running inventory of ingredients and available items. 

We are looking for a strong communicator, who is dedicated, organized, and showcases in-depth knowledge of various cuisines, cooking styles, ingredients, purveyors, equipment and knife skills. We hope that you are an operationally creative professional with strong leadership and management experience looking to share your passion for food and small business by delivering a helpful and service to our community. 

Main Duties

• Cooking and preparing all food items following recipes 

• Maintain inventory needed ingredients for products and sellable items

• Order ingredients for upcoming items and review food costs

• Creating prep and portioning lists for yourself and staff

• Ensuring kitchen and storage areas are clean

• Maintain Health and Safety standards

• Organize work areas and supplies

• Notate and report changes of recipes and inventory 

• Nutritional evaluations of products using software

• Executes ideas and creativity implements new systems 

• Influence process to run an effective and efficient kitchen while maintaining the highest food quality and controls for all dishes served

• Manage kitchen set up / break down, production, ensuring prep is completed 

• Instil teamwork and synergy exists through proper communication and delegation of tasks and staff tasks to ensure smooth kitchen and delivery operations

Required Skills/Qualifications

• 2+ years kitchen experience.

• Basic verbal and written communication skills.

• Ability to work in and lead a team.

• Ability to understand and follow written and verbal instructions.

• Detail oriented.

• Demonstrated knife skills and understanding of kitchen environments.

• Ability to multitask and work in a fast paced environment.

Physical Requirements

• Must be able to work on your feet for 8 hours.

• Fast paced & heavy lifting movements are required to go from one part of the kitchen to others.

• Must be able to move, pull, carry, or lift at least 40 pounds.

• Must be able to seize, grasp, turn and hold objects with hands.

• Occasionally kneel, bend, crouch and climb as required.

Responsibilities:

· Set up and maintain the Thyme Saver Meals booth at local farmers markets, ensuring it is clean, organized, and visually appealing.

· Engage with customers in a friendly and approachable manner, educating them about our ready-to-heat meal kits and their nutritional benefits.

· Answer any questions customers may have regarding ingredients, cooking instructions, and meal options, providing accurate information and helpful suggestions.

· Promote the convenience and quality of Thyme Saver Meals, emphasizing how our products can simplify mealtime and enhance their evening routines.

· Assist customers with making transactions using a card reader, handling payments efficiently and accurately.

· Monitor inventory levels and communicate any restocking needs to the appropriate team members.

· Collaborate with other team members to ensure a smooth and successful operation at the farmers market.

Qualifications:

· Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage with customers in a positive and enthusiastic manner.

· Knowledge or interest in nutrition and healthy eating habits.

· Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to maintain a clean and orderly booth environment.

· Reliable and punctual, with the flexibility to work weekends and evenings as needed.

· Previous experience in sales or customer service is preferred but not required.

· Must be comfortable standing for extended periods and able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
